On august 14, 2010, in Los Angeles, Edgar, Michael Bacall and I recorded our commentary track for the SPVTW dvd. (The day after the movie came out in theaters)

Right after that, we basically got on a plane. When we got to London, the afternoon of Sunday the 15th, suddenly we did a panel and a photoshoot… during the panel they gave us “Edgar Wrightinis” (ie a martini with espresso in it).

So for the photos we were (A) drunk (B) coffeed up (C) extremely jetlagged.

The Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership satellite has a camera on board that can detect very low levels of visible and infrared red light. It’s sensitive enough to be able to see wildfires at night, and took this eerie image on August 3, 2012:

Ady was from Guadeloupe, and a dancer and model - and who knows what else? Her history is largely unwritten, and there is no doubt that is because she was both female and a woman of color. She and Man Ray parted ways in 1940, but before that, she was a fixture on a scene that included Picasso, Leonora Carrington, Max Ernst, and more. She was used, unsurprisingly, as an exotic, but her face is radiant, and the photos of her are startling in their directness. The last information about her on record - and oh, this upsets me - is that she was dancing at a club on the Champs-Elysée in 1940. And then? Nothing more.  This article about Fidelin is interesting.
