My girl Sephy from Cinema. Her starting a bikini instead of a one piece shows how she had developed and changed in personality from early Cinema. Had she never met Alphabet she’s still be query and kind if mousey, I enjoy showing how theses characters change knowing who’d they’d’ve become without one another.
I sketches and inked this in class on Thursday and colored it on friday. Had I had other colors I’d’ve done in the background, but I didn’t have the ones I wanted. que sera.
Today’s warm up! Two of my favorite secondary characters from Cinema, Damien Hirchfield on the left and Teddy shoving him into the street. I don’t remember his last name, I’m not the best at remembering all of my characters’ names, I if I get their first name that’s pretty all right.
I’m not entirely sure where they’re going but Teddy is in a rush.
Teddy’s speech bubble originally said “Damien GO! We have the signal!” but I changed it. I don’t know, maybe they’re walking to school. A Cinema reminder, the main and most of the secondary cast are in high school, sometimes I draw them too stylish, but I try to take into account their familial wealth.
Also, fun fact, Teddy’s English and moved to Virginia in middle school, Damien is from Puerto Rico but it half white/half Puerto Rican, his mother moved them to Virginia when he was in elementary school and they are legal aliens. Damien also really hates winter and cold, Teddy find is bearable.
Another drawing of Alphabet, this one was done with a uniball gel pen so I’m quite proud of how well it came out. So much more permanent than a regular ball point. The pupils are a little bit off but everything else seems to work out well for this sketch-doodle all things considered.
This one is from Feb 15, 2012, sketched while talking about Diego Velazquez and Netherlandic artists. It’s a baroque art history class.
One of my class note doodles. Alpha dressed in a short coat, best and knickers leading an army. I’m but sure what period I wanted…maybe something near civil way era. I need clothing references…
She’s wearing one of them silly looking collar ruffles/ascots. Which is a really silly thing to wear on the battle field. She has a saber in her off page hand. And she is a bit war torn and battled.
Here are some rough sketches of Alphabet, I haven’t drawn her in a minute so I’m kind of happy with out these came out, the full body is the best one but the others aren’t horrible either.
Some stuff I drew the other night before I went to bed, fist is Davey from
Cinema having just gotten his ass kicked; second is a naked Lawrence and a
clothed, drunk Kevin; third is Kevin with his girlfriend who is a rabbit and
unnamed. I drew a deer to be Lawrence’s love interest but the design isn’t
quit there yet.

Warm-up 9.25.11 - Alphabet and Aster from Cinema. Alpha’s preety much saying “go that way!” and Aster is asking “Aren’t you too old to be doing this?” even as he continues to carry her. Fun fact- Alpha is 2.5 years older than Aster! Fun Fact 2: Aster has the same hair style as his sister, which is different from that of their older brother :D — lookie lookie, new markers! I have blue-green grey and cold grey markers. There’s too much hue in the blue-greens to use them in my comic, but they’ll be useful in my series for class.
Today’s warm up: Kid Davey from Cinema pretending he’s Mowgli from The Jungle Book and doing Colonel Hatchi’s March. Yup, simple.
9.16.11 warm up - more Cinema characters, Teddy on the left and Damien on the right. Tears in their eyes, man. A bunch of distactions today, this took longer than it should have to draw. I just realized that damien’s features were lost a bit, here are also close ups of each of them. Cheers!
Hey, warm up! I tried drawing some Cinema characters I haven’t drawn in a long time, I fucked up the first time. Sephy came out looking like a tired hooker and not white, Damien’s ehh. I’ve trying different eyeshapes and this one does not work with Damien. The second photo is what Sephy is supposed to look like, they could never be the same people. Oh, Hooker-Seph is wearing a skort or skirt-shorts, the circle is supposed to be a pin she added to decorate them a bit. Alright, warmed up, time to draw!
so, university has some intuos tablets, I did my work, for now-ish, and I decided to open up photoshop and play around. This was amazing! Seriously, why don’t we have a tablet class? I’d take it! I’d take a tablet art class as many times as I could!
But yeah, here’s a mediocre sketch, I plan on doing something better during class, when I can, between now and the end of the semester.
Like, a month ago I think I posted an earlier screencap of this, I’ve worked on it more, cheers! I’m shit at digital painting, I don’t like it as much as real painting, but I’m only using Photoshop Elements, I’ve been thinking about downloading OpenCanvas, but I think I’ll always love traditional media the most. The original drawing was pencil, I had to create the environment on the computer because I rarely sketch backgrounds.
Yup, this is Alpha from Cinema. Cheers!
