Scott Pilgrim Color Test

Back in 2009, I was approached as a potential colorist for the Scott Pilgrim Color Editions. I was given permission to share these pages, so I am!  In the end, I’m really thankful that I wasn’t given the gig — I’m not a super great or confident colorist and the job would’ve been done at the exclusion of all other personal work.

The Scott Pilgrim color books are looking rad!  Look for them in August!

I basically was like “YUKO… NO. YOU CAN’T.” because we all need more of Yuko’s own work. I did not want to waste years of her life. It would have been irresponsible of me.

I’m re-reading Scott Pilgrim this week, I forgot how many great things were in the first two books. Or great big things that were left out of the movies. Most beloved (currently) was Joseph. But Wallace Wells is still a wretched soul. Because yeah.
But the evolution in the art is one of the more phenomenal aspects, in a few short years the changes, improvements and consistency in art work is great to see. Stylistically, I’m excited to see what Bryan Lee O’Malley makes next and how his style changes either from Scott Pilgrim to the next narrative or over the course of the next narrative.

brandon routh was really good as todd in the movie
this part was perfect in both

all the actors nailed their comic delivery i’m actually amazed at how pretty much everyone but mary elizabeth winstead turned themselves into a cartoon
mind i don’t think it’s MEW’s fault they just kind of mismanaged Ramona in the movie and didn’t give her… anything… to her personality…

There was one point in my life where I was Scott and shared a bed with my gay room mate and I’m pretty sure we had this exchange at least once.
Except I wasn’t sleeping, I was on the computer.
And there were no videogame references or awesome fights.
The End.

I have this experience with twitter a few times a month.
