Virginia creeper.

The workers who re-sided my building cut it all back in december but it’s a hearty fuck of a plant and is making its comeback on this fence to my entertainment.

Easy way to know it’s a young creeper tendril and not poison ivy, the leaves still present in groupings of five

MEANWHILE ON PLANET EARTH:

An unexpected side effect of the 2010 flooding in parts of Sindh, Pakistan, was that millions of spiders climbed up into the trees to escape the rising flood waters; because of the scale of the flooding and the fact that the water took so long to recede, many trees became cocooned in spiderwebs. People in the area had never seen this phenomenon before. (Courtesy: National Geographic)

What.

People who are pro gay rights but not very good at explaining why they are will often cite the “statistic” that homosexuality is found in over 4000 species while homophobia is apparently only found in one and that somehow that’s supposed to make discriminating against that community seem unnatural

And while I’m all for equal rights, holy shit is that ever a terrible argument

Here’s just a few other things those 4000 other species do

  • Eat their own young
  • Eat their own shit
  • Beat each other to death to decide who gets to fuck the hottest girl in the neighbourhood, who kind of just has to be okay with it
  • Eat their own shit
  • Have 2-4 penises
  • Probably watch Leno

I have my own reason which isn’t about nature but human decency. But that’s not the point, calling something natural is a horrible excuse. Things that are also natural:

Killing the weakest and proving only for the strongest born

Infanticide

Carnivorous consumption

Killing for the fuck of it

Licking one’s genitalia, often.

Other.

So, I agree with joshishollywood that citing nature as an excuse to not hate gay people is horrible. But I’m also all for gay people because they’re a) a living creature first and b) human before they’re gay.

If you’ve watched my videos or been following me on Twitter I’ve said a fair bit these past few days about smelling smoke. I look out my window and saw this, so I took a moment to take these three photos of what the smoke is like in Norfolk, Virginia around 1:30am.

I am between 20-50 miles from the Swamp, depending on which part of the refuge you’re interested in visiting, so I’m really close to this. Depending on which way the wind is blowing it’s not that bad, but my eyes are burning from my few moments outside tonight. Honestly, I was out for about 5 minutes to get these three shots.

News on the fire! some of it is a few days past, but it’ll still inform you
